Project Overview
Forward Consultants Network was engaged by Yucatán Industrial Development Group to conduct a comprehensive environmental impact assessment and secure all necessary permits for a new 250-hectare sustainable industrial park on the outskirts of Mérida.
The project involved detailed studies of local ecosystems, hydrological systems, and archaeological resources, along with extensive community engagement to ensure sustainable development that meets both regulatory requirements and community expectations.
The industrial park is designed to accommodate light manufacturing, logistics, and technology companies with minimal environmental impact, featuring green spaces, water recycling systems, and renewable energy infrastructure.

Challenges & Solutions
Sensitive Ecosystem Protection
The site contained portions of a rare tropical dry forest ecosystem. Our team conducted extensive flora and fauna inventories, identifying three protected species that required special mitigation measures.
Community Concerns
Local residents were concerned about water usage and traffic impacts. We organized community workshops and adjusted project plans to include a rainwater capture system and improved access roads.
Archaeological Findings
Initial surveys revealed pre-Columbian artifacts. We worked with INAH to document and preserve findings while adjusting site plans to avoid sensitive areas.
Permitting Complexity
The project required coordination between federal, state, and municipal agencies. Our established relationships and expertise streamlined the approval process.
